Hospital Decontamination Team Annual Refresher
This one-day course will prepare you to apply skills and techniques learned in H.E.R.T. (respond to a multi-casualty incident involving contamination resulting from natural, accidental or intentional causes). The ABIA HERT course incorporates adult education techniques, hands-on skills practice, simulation exercise to enhance student competence.
Unique to the ABIA Hospital Decontamination Team course is the competencies focused on the roles for:
- Traditional decon team participants
- Hospital security personnel
- Team management and support for those who cannot wear PPE

Prerequisite
H.E.R.T. certification from any provider
You must submit copies of your H.E.R.T. certification in order to be eligible to register for this refresher class. If you took H.E.R.T. at ABIA, we have records and no certificate copy needs to be sent. Other Decontamination Team training is not a substitute for H.E.R.T. certification. FEMA can also validate your certification through transcript request if you cannot locate your certificate
Course Fees and Registration
Registration for each course is limited to the first forty (40) participants. No fee for ABIA Partner Hospitals: Summa Health Systems, Akron General Health System or Akron Children’s Hospital. The fee for all other participants is $150.00. The course includes all materials, lunch and parking.
